The Conseil Constitutionnel censures certain articles of the Immigration Law

On January 25, the French Conseil Constitutionnel, in its decision n° 2023-863 DC concerning the Law to control immigration and improve integration, censured many of the articles that had caused controversy in recent months.

In fact, we had covered two articles in our news section that will not see the light of day in the end.

Firstly, British people with a secondary residence in France will not be able to claim exemption from visa requirements.

Secondly, the stricter conditions that were to apply to the spouses of French nationals will not be implemented.

The Conseil Constitutionnel has ruled that these provisions are contrary to the Constitution and have no connection with the original bill.
